When: late 2006 Where: Kingston University London With a strong personal and professional interest in recycled materials she designed, built and curated the notable travelling exhibition Re:materialise, 1996 (www.rematerialise.org). This research into furniture and product designers’ impact on the environment, materials made from waste, and the unique library of sustainable material samples has initiated considerable industry interest, leading to major collaborations between the Kingston University Product Design students and IKEA, Lloyd Loom, LEGO and Transport for London. Now in receipt of an AHRC research award, Jakki is director of Creative Resource, a three year internationally-focussed research programme culminating in a travelling exhibition and publication in late 2006. Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, led by Jakki Dehn, Senior Lecturer in Product and Furniture Design, Kingston University is looking specifically at the development of recycled materials and the role of design in the sustainable production of products.
